Mailchimp was looking to reimagine aspects of their new-hire orientation. One specific stage of the process that lacked a formal structure was how portrait photos were taken for employee documentation.
The idea to implement a photo booth into the process created an interactive way to put structure around employee headshots. The design concept to disguise it as a shipping crate was meant to tap into new-hires' excitement at starting a new job—they are the package that has just arrived at Mailchimp's headquarters, ready to begin a new chapter in their professional and personal lives.
